Two inland water navigation bus routes from Bach Dang harbor (District 1) to Thu Duc district, District 8 will be developed by HCM city’s Department of Transport in the year 2017.
On February 12nd, HCM city’s Department of Transport official issued that the Department will be working on two inland water bus routes in order to improve domestic navigation in hope of reducing overland traffic. According to the official, the two bus routes will be operated by modern technologies for the safest and most comfortable experience of the passengers.
The first route will be operated in the upcoming June and will be 11 km in travel distance with 7 bus stops on all district 1, 2, Binh Thanh and Thu Duc. This route will start from Ben Thanh Harbor, going along the Sai Gon river, through Thanh Da canal, Binh Thanh district and end at that last stop on Binh Quoi river at Thu Duc district, Linh Dong ward and reverse.
The second route will start working on this September, travel distance will be 10,3 km, starting from Bach Dang stop (district 1) along Sai Gon river through Ben Nghe canal, Tau Hu channel, passing through district 1, 4, 5, 6, 8 and reverse
In early stage, the investor will equip 10 trains with a capacity of at least 60 seats for the project, travel distance will be 11km, 30 minutes per visit. Estimated daily, the 2 bus lines will transport about 5,000 guests.
Estimated ticket price is 15,000 Vietnam Dong per respectively. When put into operation, inland water navigation bus routes will be connected to the overland bus routes. When the passengers arrive at each water navigation bus stop there will be an overland bus taking them to their desired destinations.
