Where to go in Saigon

When you get off at the final stop – 23/9 park (1), you’re in downtown Sai Gon and absolutely ready to discover the city.
A few minutes walking from 23/9 park will lead you to an area that is called “Backpacker area” (including Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham and Bui Vien streets) (2), which has a lot of tourists and always be busy with hostels, restaurants, bars and travel agents. Close to “Backpacker area” is Ben Thanh market (3), the oldest market and also the symbol of Sai Gon. You may find it easily in the guide book since it’s a hightlight and quite popular among travellers to Viet Nam. Entering the market and you will be amazed by so many things to see and try, from delicious local food and drink to souvenirs (clothes, fabric, traditional crafts,…) and daily stuff. If you’re still not tired after visiting these places, you can walk further and drop by Bui Thi Xuan street to enjoy some of the most special food there such as the famous and delicious “Banh mi” (4) in Sai Gon (at 122E Bui Thi Xuan street, district 1) or a variety of savoury sticky rice at Xoi che Bui Thi Xuan (No 111 Bui Thi Xuan, District 1) (5)
